Job summary

SDLC Technologies in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a Principal Mobile Software Engineer to lead Android BLE-enabled medical device apps, with some iOS collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience in mobile application development, with Android (Kotlin/Java).
• BLE protocols for mobile-device interaction, ideally in healthcare or medical applications.
• Deep understanding of BLE operations: scanning, connecting, bonding, characteristic read/write, notifications, background tasks.
• Experience with iOS development (Swift/Objective-C, Core Bluetooth).
• Familiarity with IEC 62304, software documentation, and quality systems.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Git.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and come up with well-thought-out solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in SDLC (Agile), object-oriented design methodology.
• Demonstrated technical leadership skills.
• Creative / innovative thinker and good organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Android mobile applications that connect to medical devices via BLE, ensuring secure data transmission.
• Collaborate with iOS developers, QA, clinical, and hardware teams for cross-platform consistency.
• Implement BLE workflows including device discovery, secure pairing, bonding, and characteristic interactions.
• Rapidly ramp up and contribute to iOS development (Swift/Objective-C) where required.
• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code following medical device software standards (IEC 62304).
• Participate in architecture, risk assessment, and design reviews for regulated medical software.
• Support validation, verification, and regulatory submission processes with compliant docs and tests.
• Diagnose and resolve BLE communication and device interoperability issues.
• Document software development and testing activities per approved procedures.
• Follow full design life cycle: requirements, design, planning, code reviews, and artifacts.
• Analyze, evaluate, and verify requirements using software engineering standards.
• Provide complete expert engineering solutions that are architecturally sound.
