Job summary

Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, IA seeks a Sr Engineer II (Team Leader, Model Operations & Enablement) to lead the MOE team building and operating our enterprise AI pipeline platforms. You will partner with data science, engineering, and business stakeholders to move models from concept to production and keep them healthy in production.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of work experience or equivalent.
• 5+ years AWS experience (Glue, S3, SageMaker, IAM).
• Knowledge of Snowflake, feature store, and model registry.
• Formal leadership experience guiding a technical team.
• Experience in ML infrastructure and MLOps.
• Experience with production model monitoring and drift detection.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the MOE team across model operations stack, incl. training, CI/CD, inferencing, and monitoring.
• Own and simplify the enterprise AI pipeline leveraging AWS and Snowflake-based EDF.
• Set 6–12 month strategic direction for MOE platform, expanding monitoring and LLMOps.
• Run intake consultations with data science partners to scope ML products to production.
• Foster cross-team collaboration and migrate legacy models to the enterprise MLOps pipeline.
• Oversee change-management, risk analyses, and privacy assessments in a regulated setting.
• Develop leadership bench by rotating project ownership and coaching.
• Deliver training on the MLOps pipeline and report progress quarterly.
