Job summary

Sift is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the ML platform team. You will own the roadmap and execution for systems that train, evaluate, and serve ML models in production, guiding a group of ML platform engineers and data scientists.

You will stay deeply technical, review designs, and drive architecture decisions while partnering with customers and cross-functional teams. This role sits in a hybrid environment with responsibility for scalable, trustworthy ML infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience, with 4+ years of people management in software, data science, or ML engineering teams.
• Experience leading Data Scientists or deep knowledge of data science.
• Deep fluency in ML systems: training pipelines, feature engineering, serving, evaluation at scale.
• Proven track record leading technical customer engagements with enterprise customers.
• History of reducing technical debt in high-traffic production systems while delivering features.
• Experience designing or scaling evaluation frameworks (offline/online) for ML models.
• Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
• Formal CS degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the ML platform team; own roadmap, execution, and quality of production ML systems.
• Stay technical: review designs, unblock engineers, and assess architecture/trade-offs.
• Drive customer POVs with strategic engagements translating needs into platform capabilities.
• Reduce technical debt across the ML platform while maintaining feature delivery.
• Build evaluation frameworks for fast, trustworthy model signals before/after deployment.
• Automate repeatable ML lifecycle processes across training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Partner with Data Science, Core Infrastructure, Product, and Customer Success to align investments.
