Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer to build the foundational infrastructure powering feature engineering, model training, and serving across the company.

You will own systems spanning streaming, distributed training, and inference, enabling high availability and low latency for fraud detection, personalization, and blockchain analysis. This role emphasizes mentorship and responsible use of AI within production-grade software.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with distributed systems in production.
• Experience building and operating low-latency data/ML infrastructure (streaming pipelines, online serving, or distributed training).
• Record of mentoring engineers and elevating engineering quality through reviews and design discussions.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and reliability of ML inference infrastructure for production models and LLMs.
• Build and optimize low-latency streaming pipelines delivering fresh feature data to models.
• Drive improvements to distributed training infrastructure for scalable ML workloads.
• Develop observability tooling to monitor data quality and detect degradations impacting models.
• Mentor junior engineers to raise production-grade software standards.
