Job summary

At Atlassian in the United States, the Senior ML System Engineer on the AI & ML Platform team will help build and optimize the core infrastructure that powers ML models and pipelines used by Jira, Confluence, and other products.

You will collaborate with product teams, curate high‑quality ML data, fine‑tune open‑source LLMs or integrate proprietary models, and lead projects from technical design to launch while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in building Machine Learning and AI infra/platform/system.
• Comprehensive ML lifecycle expertise: developing, deploying, and maintaining end-to-end ML systems.
• Large-scale system design: scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems for ML.
• MLOps and automation: CI/CD pipelines and automation for continuous training, deployment, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product teams to solve complex ML challenges from design to launch.
• Curate high-quality ML datasets and fine-tune open-source LLMs or access proprietary models.
• Access proprietary LLMs and build ML solutions for Atlassian products.
• Lead projects from technical design through to launch and deliver impactful results.
• Mentor junior engineers within the team.
