Lever, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer: Machine Learning Infrastructure to drive high‑load backend services and ML data pipelines from Spain. You’ll own critical platform components and partner with ML and product teams to deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure for ML workloads.

You’ll work in a remote‑first environment with ownership, strong engineering practices, and modern AI‑assisted development tools, shaping how teams build and operate ML products at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and API development.
• Experience designing distributed, high‑load services.
• Strong system design mindset and architectural thinking.
• Ownership mindset with proactive problem solving.
• Experience with modern AI‑assisted tooling is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and operate high‑load backend services for ML infra.
• Own core ML services and data pipelines from design to deployment.
• Create scalable, reusable infrastructure components for ML workloads.
• Collaborate with ML and product engineers to translate needs into platform capabilities.
• Evaluate architectural options for scalability, reliability, and cost.
• Maintain strong observability, reliability, and code quality.
