Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer I for its Optical Systems division in Long Beach, CA. You will design and deploy ML models for EO/IR image processing and contribute to SDA PWSA programs.

Requires a strong ML background, Python expertise, and experience with deep learning frameworks. Citizenship and security clearance eligibility are required; base pay reflects CA standards and a comprehensive package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field and 5+ years of experience (or relevant mix).
• Strong background in ML including model selection, training, validation, testing, deployment.
• Experience building deep learning networks for computer vision or image processing.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to developing ML solutions for space domain problems.
• Design, train, and deploy ML models for Optical Systems applications.
• Build and maintain ML pipelines for data ingestion, training, and inference.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers on AI, ML, and CV projects.
• Prototype rapidly for integration into operational systems.
• Troubleshoot, fix bugs, and maintain systems.
• Stay current with ML research and evaluate new tools and techniques.
