Job summary

Rocket Lab’s Optical Systems division in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer II to advance deep learning for EO/IR image processing. You will develop, train, and deploy models, build end-to-end ML pipelines, and collaborate across AI/vision research teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities for DoD/IC programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field + 8+ years experience (or 6+ with Master's, or PhD).
• Strong background in machine learning including model selection, training, validation, testing, and deployment.
• Proficiency in Python; experience with CV/IR DL libraries (Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Responsibilities

• Design, train, and deploy ML models for Optical Systems applications.
• Build and maintain ML pipelines for data ingestion, feature engineering, training, and inference.
• Collaborate with researchers/engineers on AI, ML, and computer vision projects.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field
