Job summary

Torc in the United States (Ann Arbor area) is seeking a senior data engineering leader to architect scalable pipelines for autonomous driving data. You will extract and catalog safety-critical events from multi-sensor logs and help standardize data using Pegasus layers to accelerate ML training and validation.

You will mentor engineers, drive system architecture, and collaborate with perception, simulation, and systems teams to define what constitutes an “interesting scenario.” This role offers

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or a STEM field with 6+ years in data engineering or ML systems.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with large time-series or unstructured data processing.
• Experience with Databricks and cloud platforms for big data analytics.

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize distributed data pipelines for multi-sensor logs (camera, LiDAR, radar).
• Develop ML-assisted event tagging to describe complex scenarios.
• Standardize data using Pegasus layers and ensure metadata integrity.
• Ingest tagged events into observations database for ML training and validation.
• Collaborate across perception, simulation, and systems engineering to define 'interesting scenarios'.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and establish coding standards.
