Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer for Safety AI to design production ML APIs and scalable data flywheels enabling real-time safety features across fleet-scale devices. You will partner with applied scientists, firmware and frontend/backend teams to productionize models, monitor latency, and ensure reliability.

Minimum requirements include 6+ years in ML engineering, proficiency in C++, Python, and cloud tooling, plus a BS/MS in CS.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience shipping models in production.
• Strong proficiency in one or more common languages (e.g., C++, Python, Java, Scala).
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field; PhD preferred for advanced roles.
• Experience with containerization and cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Experience deploying ML applications with data-driven feedback loops.

Responsibilities

• Design Production ML APIs to integrate model outputs into cloud apps.
• Build data flywheels: scalable pipelines for model iteration and evaluation.
• Optimize and serve model artifacts for platform workloads.
• Handle petabyte-scale video/sensor data processing for model execution.
• Monitor rollout health, model drift, latency, and reliability in production.
• Collaborate with firmware, platform, and product teams to align requirements.
• Champion Samsara culture and focus on customer success.
