Job summary

Apple, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA, seeks a high-caliber ML engineer to join the robotics team and work on AI/ML systems for real-world applications.

You will collaborate with engineers and scientists to design, evaluate, and integrate AI solutions across the robotics stack, applying state-of-the-art techniques with PyTorch and TensorFlow in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in CS, Math, ML, Robotics or related fields.
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong software engineering background.
• Ability to break down large features and implement practical solutions.
• Experience building prototypes that improve system performance.
• Familiarity with the full robotics stack (controls, perception, planning, agentic system etc.)
• Familiarity with modern ML approaches (VLMs, LLMs, Diffusions, RL)
• Proficiency with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Experience in robotic algorithms for manipulation and/or navigation.

Description

As a member of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a team of highly skilled engineers and scientists to bring new experiences to Apple products. This position requires a self-motivated ML engineer with strong technical and interpersonal skills to handle responsibilities including:

Minimum Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Computer Science, Math, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related fields.
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience
• Strong software engineering background
• Ability to break down large features and implement practical solutions
• Experience in building complete prototypes that continuously improving the system performance
• Familiarity with the full robotics stack (controls, perception, planning, agentic system etc.)
• Familiarity with modern ML approaches (VLMs, LLMs, Diffusions, RL, etc.)
• Proficiency using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow
• Experience in working on robotic algorithms for manipulation and/or navigation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in training/fine tuning multimodal foundational models
• Experience in building RL models and solving sim2real for robotics applications
• Experience optimizing ML models or mathematical algorithms for mobile deployment and resource-constrained environments

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
