Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to design, build, and optimize AI systems across foundation models, inference, and observability. You will partner with engineers, researchers, PMs, and product teams to deliver AI-powered products that impact customers and associates.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of AI/ML experience, strong Python/Go/Scala/Java skills, and a track record deploying scalable AI on cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 8 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
• Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
• At least 8 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for production AI systems
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems
