Unity Technologies SF is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to architect and scale agentic AI within the Unity engine. This onsite Mountain View role emphasizes designing goal-directed systems, memory and world modeling, and real-time performance.

You will lead major initiatives, mentor teams, and drive the roadmap for agentic AI across games and simulations while ensuring safety and quality in production.

Qualifications

• MS or Ph.D. in CS, ML, robotics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing ML systems in production, ideally in real-time or interactive environments.
• A strong background in reinforcement learning, AI planning, decision-making under uncertainty, multi-agent systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and scale AI agent systems in Unity environments.
• Build reusable agentic frameworks such as planning modules or memory systems.
• Develop AI models for Unity's agentic system to support tasks in Unity games.
• Integrate ML models within real-time engine constraints, optimizing latency and determinism.
• Lead initiatives like hierarchical reinforcement learning for scalable behaviors.
• Collaborate with teams to expand use cases across gaming and simulation.
• Contribute to Unity's agentic AI roadmap with modularity and performance.
• Establish best practices for model quality and AI safety in real-time systems.
• Mentor engineers and researchers to strengthen innovation and collaboration.
