Job summary

Wayve in Sunnyvale is seeking a Staff/Senior Machine Learning Engineer for the AV Core organization to lead the technical direction and delivery of learned emergency manoeuvre prediction and collision detection models. You will take the programme from problem definition through modelling, evaluation, integration, and deployment evidence.

The Core Model Safety team builds foundational capabilities for assisted and automated driving, with access to large-scale training data and close partners in

Qualifications

• Strong track record in ML engineering
• Hands-on experience with ML systems in production
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch with solid SL engineering practices
• Excellent experimental judgement for hypothesis testing and metrics
• Senior-level ownership and collaboration across teams

Responsibilities

• Lead Core Model Safety roadmap from research to experiments and tech transfer.
• Train and deploy AV 2.0 models for emergency manoeuvre prediction and collision detection on a global fleet.
• Collaborate on online occupancy models for geometric and semantic perception.
• Build high-value open-loop and closed-loop evaluations for core capabilities.
• Align priorities across AV Core, Evaluation and Product Engineering; mentor teammates.
• Maintain awareness of broader business context and product priorities.
