Qualifications

• 6+ years of building large-scale backend or distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in designing and operating high-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with Go, Kotlin, Java or similar languages.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for Bumble’s recommendations platform, focusing on retrieval, ranking, and serving.
• Lead design of large-scale distributed systems serving millions of members.
• Identify and solve high-leverage technical problems across the recommendations stack.
• Raise engineering quality through architectural principles, observability, and operational excellence.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction across teams.
• Drive platform evolution with service decomposition, tooling, and AI-assisted engineering.
• Contribute hands-on code and prototypes for critical components of the platform.
