Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer (IC4) to advance the Content Understanding roadmap within the Monetization org. You will design and ship scalable ML systems that influence how ads and content are understood and targeted.

This is an applied ML role focused on practical systems, not pure research. You will drive end-to-end ML pipelines, evaluate models, set SLOs, and mentor engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver business impact.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping robust ML systems in production.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and code quality.
• Ability to evaluate hosted LLMs vs. custom models in production.

Responsibilities

• Operate across the full ML lifecycle, designing scalable ML pipelines and championing responsible AI for ACU’s models in production.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to MLEs and SWEs working on ML.
• Develop evaluation and quality monitoring systems for content understanding signals.
• Drive operational excellence with SLOs, alerts, and dashboards for signals like coverage, latency, precision/recall, and cost.
• Build and evolve content understanding capabilities for commercial conversations and signals powering ads and targeting.
• Lead at least one major distillation or model replacement effort to reduce dependency on external APIs.
