Job summary

Motional is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the ML Data Services team and help build data infrastructure for Autonomy ML teams. You will design Restful APIs and scalable pipelines processing terabytes of data to deliver datasets for ML training, simulation, and evaluation.

You will own backend services, work with leadership on objectives and timelines, mentor junior engineers, and apply AWS, Python, Java/Go, and modern AI tooling to accelerate development and code quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with Python preferred, with relevant experience in Java or Go.
• 5+ years of web backend development with REST APIs and microservices.
• 3+ years of AWS cloud experience (DynamoDB, API Gateway, EKS, Lambda, OpenSearch, Redshift, S3).
• 3+ years of data engineering with AWS Step Functions, Airflow or Prefect.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in cross-functional teams and quarterly road map design.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools to accelerate development, refactoring, and code reviews.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Restful APIs and microservices for data labeling and annotations.
• Architect, build and maintain scalable data processing pipelines with cloud ETL to deliver datasets for Autonomy teams.
• Own highly-available backend services and APIs that store and expose terabytes of data.
• Collaborate with leadership to define objectives, timelines, and key deliverables.
• Design and develop monitoring and observability services for MLOps data service pipelines.
• Mentor junior engineers to improve SDLC skills and code quality.
