Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Mine Surveyor to join our client’s Welkom operations. You will perform surface and underground surveys, maintain survey control, and produce mine plans and contour maps to support planning and production.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics, with 5+ years underground experience, proficiency in Surpac and AutoCAD Civil 3D, and a valid driver’s license, ensuring precision and safety in a major mining environment.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, preferably underground.
• Proficiency with mine surveying software (e.g., Surpac, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Experience with surveying instruments and techniques.
• Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work in underground mine conditions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate surface and underground surveys using total stations, GPS, and other surveying equipment.
• Establish and maintain survey control networks and benchmarks.
• Prepare detailed mine plans, cross-sections, and contour maps.
• Calculate volumes of material excavated and stockpiled.
• Provide survey support for drilling, blasting, and development activities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant surveying regulations and standards.
