Micro-Cap Solutions, a growing architectural millwork and commercial interiors firm, seeks a Senior Engineer / Drafter to advance the engineering and drafting of custom commercial projects. You will develop accurate shop drawings, review specifications, and collaborate with project management and production to ensure production-ready documentation for manufacturing.

• 5+ years of experience in architectural millwork or related drafting

• Ability to interpret architectural drawings and project specs
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience coordinating with project management and production teams

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering and drafting work from kickoff to final release to the shop
• Develop and review shop drawings, submittals, fabrication drawings, and production docs
• Review drawings, specs, and requirements for accuracy
• Coordinate with PM, production, and drafting teams to resolve technical questions
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, field dimension discrepancies, material issues
• Ensure drawings and documentation are complete before release to production
• Support material takeoffs, hardware selection, and production planning
• Meet engineering and drafting deadlines to support schedules
• Provide technical guidance to other engineers/drafters

Micro-Cap Solutions is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a growing architectural millwork and commercial interiors organization seeking an experienced Senior Engineer / Drafter to support the engineering and drafting of custom commercial projects.

Our client is an established commercial millworker known for delivering high-quality architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, and custom interior finishes. As the business continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced engineering or drafting professional who can develop accurate shop drawings, solve technical challenges, and work closely with project management and production teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in architectural millwork, commercial cabinetry, custom woodworking, or a related environment who enjoys taking projects from initial drafting and engineering through the release of accurate, production-ready drawings to the shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned engineering and drafting work from project kickoff through final release to the shop.
• Develop and review shop drawings, submittals, fabrication drawings, and production documentation.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements to ensure accurate engineering and drafting.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, or similar software to develop detailed drawings and production-ready documentation.
• Coordinate with project management, production, and drafting teams to resolve technical questions and prepare projects for manufacturing.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, field dimension discrepancies, material issues, and constructability challenges.
• Ensure drawings, material specifications, hardware selections, and other documentation are complete and accurate before release to production.
• Support material takeoffs, hardware selection, and production planning as needed.
• Manage engineering and drafting deadlines to support project schedules and timely shop releases.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers or drafters as appropriate.

Ideal Background

• 5+ years of experience in architectural millwork, commercial cabinetry, casework, custom woodworking, or a related engineering/drafting environment.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, or comparable millwork engineering and drafting software.
• Solid understanding of millwork construction methods, materials, hardware, fabrication, and installation processes.
• Experience developing detailed shop drawings and production-ready documentation.
• Ability to interpret architectural plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Experience coordinating engineering and drafting deliverables through final release to manufacturing.
• Strong technical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while coordinating with project teams.
• Experience with complex commercial projects preferred, but candidates with strong technical backgrounds in related custom fabrication environments will also be considered.
