Job summary

Eonsystems in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Microscope Engineer to design and scale high-throughput optical microscopes for expanded tissue imaging. You will move prototypes to production-ready instruments and lead replication into a small fleet for large-scale acquisition.

This hands-on role requires building optics, optomechanics, illumination, detection, and control, plus coding for instrument automation and image analysis in a fast-paced research setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and building optical microscopy instruments.
• Hands-on optomechanical build experience and CAD skills.
• Experience with illumination sources, objective selection, and cameras/detectors.
• Ability to code for instrument control, automation, and image analysis.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build custom high-throughput optical microscopes.
• Take prototype to production-ready instrument with motorized staging.
• Operate microscopes to acquire high-resolution 3D image volumes of expanded neural tissue.
• Produce complete build documentation and lead replication toward a small fleet.
• Troubleshoot imaging issues and perform routine maintenance on microscopy equipment.
