Job summary

Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services & Systems division is seeking a Senior Microgrid Controls Engineer to design and implement microgrid control solutions for customers across the U.S., improving energy resilience and reducing greenhouse emissions.

Travel is anticipated at about 35% to support project execution and system commissioning, with work spanning Solar PV, BESS, gensets and related automation hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 3 years of experience in power distribution controls applications.
• Understanding of Electric Power Systems.
• Understanding of Microgrid operations.
• Understanding of DERs (PV, BESS, and Generators).
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, test, and deploy software for Automation Controllers and HMI's for Microgrid applications.
• Follow customers, drawings and specifications and internal specifications for project implementation.
• Select components and create bill of materials.
• Prepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals.
• Provide sketches, mark-ups, and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings.
• Prepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operation (SOO), and test procedures.
• Review DER vendor submittals and coordinate control requirements with vendors.
• Collaborate with other Eaton business groups to ensure Microgrid solution meets design intent.
• Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
• Troubleshoot systems that are not functioning properly.
