AES US Renewables & Power is seeking a Microgrid Controls Engineer to design, test, implement, and commission advanced microgrid control solutions integrating natural‑gas generation, BESS, solar, and utility interconnections. You will deliver robust automation, HMI, SCADA, protection, and communication systems from design through field startup and turnover.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Typically 4–8 years of experience in power‑distribution controls, industrial automation, microgrids, or SCADA.
• Understanding of electric power systems, microgrid operations, DERs, BESS, and solar PV.
• Experience programming automation controllers or PLCs (ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams, or CODESYS).
• Knowledge of industrial communications protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
• Experience with Ignition Perspective or similar HMI/SCADA platforms preferred.
• Field experience with electrical distribution systems, startup, commissioning, and safety practices.
• Professional Engineer licensure is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement microgrid control solutions with generators, BESS, solar, and loads.
• Develop and deploy software for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and data concentrators.
• Create control philosophies, sequences, diagrams, alarms, and test procedures.
• Configure controls using ladder logic, structured text, and CODESYS environments.
• Support grid‑connected, islanding, load shedding, and dispatch modes.
• Review specifications and translate requirements into executable designs.
• Prepare BOMs, technical specs, and submittals for control systems.
• Coordinate interfaces with vendors, electrical designers, and project teams.
• Perform factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
