The AES Corporation is seeking a Microgrid Controls Engineer in the United States to design, develop, test, implement, and commission microgrid control solutions. The role integrates natural-gas generation, BESS, solar, and site loads to deliver safe, reliable automation, HMI, SCADA, and protection solutions from design through startup and turnover.

Responsibilities include developing control philosophies, programming PLCs, coordinating with internal teams and vendors, and ensuring compliance

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Typically 4–8 years of experience in power-distribution controls, industrial automation, microgrids, SCADA or related fields.
• Understanding of electric power systems, microgrid operations, distributed energy resources (DERs).
• Experience programming automation controllers/PLCs using ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams or CODESYS.
• Knowledge of Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850 and other industrial communication protocols.
• Experience with HMIs/SCADA platforms and industrial networks.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement microgrid control solutions with generators, BESS, solar, and interconnections.
• Develop, modify, test, and deploy software for automation controllers and SCADA systems.
• Create control philosophies, sequences of operation, and testing procedures.
• Program controls using ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams, or CODESYS environments.
• Coordinate with engineering teams and external vendors to meet schedules and safety requirements.
• Prepare BOMs, technical specs, and project submittals.
• Coordinate with project management and clients during design reviews and commissioning.
