Job summary

AES US Renewables & Power is seeking a Microgrid Controls Engineer to design, develop, test, implement, and commission microgrid control solutions integrating natural-gas generation, battery energy storage, solar, and utility interconnections. The role delivers safe automation, HMI, SCADA, protection, and control-system solutions from design through field startup and turnover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, controls, computer engineering, or related field.
• Typically 4 to 8 years of experience in power-distribution controls, industrial automation, microgrids or SCADA.
• Knowledge of Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850 industrial communications.
• Experience programming automation controllers or PLCs (ladder logic, structured text, function block, CODESYS).
• Professional Engineer licensure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design microgrid control solutions integrating natural-gas generators, BESS, solar, and site loads.
• Develop, modify, and deploy software for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Create control philosophies, sequences of operation, and test procedures.
• Configure industrial communications and coordinate with vendors and internal teams.
• Lead factory acceptance, site acceptance, and commissioning activities.
