Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Center seeks a Senior Counselor to provide direct readjustment counseling to eligible individuals, couples, and families. You will coordinate care, offer expert clinical consultation, and participate in staff development with a focus on family systems therapy.

The position requires an MFT license, COAMFTE credentials or equivalent, and at least five years of post-licensed experience. EDRP eligibility is noted; telework is not available for this role.

Qualifications

• US citizenship and English proficiency required.
• Master's or doctoral degree in MFT or comparable mental health field.
• Full current unrestricted MFT license to practice.
• Five years post-licensed clinical experience in family therapy.
• Experience using evidence-based family therapy models.
• AAMFT Approved Supervisor credential preferred.
• COAMFTE accreditation or AMFTRB exam required for GS-12 level.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct readjustment counseling to eligible individuals, couples, and families.
• Offer clinical consultation to clinicians on complex psychosocial cases.
• Coordinate care with inter-professional teams and leadership.
• Conduct risk assessment and crisis intervention planning.
• Document clinical interactions and therapy plans as required.
