Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc is seeking a Senior Metrology Engineer in Jacksonville, FL, to lead the development and integration of inspection systems for automated medical-device manufacturing. This role combines computer vision and metrology to drive technology choices and cross-functional collaboration.

The candidate will coordinate with suppliers, establish maintenance plans, and guide early-career engineers while ensuring compliance and quality in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline with 4+ years of experience (or Master's with 2 years, or a recent PhD).
• Demonstrated project leadership and machine vision engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams to achieve project and technology objectives while managing technical risks and presenting status, decisions, and issues to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with experts to translate product, process, and quality requirements into measurable inspection and system requirements.
• Lead technology evaluation, selection, and development through hardware evaluation, feasibility testing, bench testing, configuration optimization, inline installation, and system acceptance.
• Partner with external suppliers and system integrators to develop technical solutions. Define and review technical scopes of work and ensure solutions meet project requirements.
• Work with internal partners to establish preventive-maintenance, calibration, spare-parts, backup, training, and support plans to sustain the system after launch.
• Establish risk-based test strategies, including feasibility studies, design verification, factory and site acceptance testing.
• Serve as the subject matter expert during audits, reviews, transfers, and technical decisions.
• Mentor and guide early in career engineers without formal authority.
