Job summary

Divergent in Torrance, CA, seeks a Senior Metrology & Inspection Specialist to lead inspection strategy across advanced manufacturing. You will interpret GD&T to develop robust inspection plans and mentor the team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in high-precision manufacturing (aerospace, defense, automotive).
• Mastery of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and real-world application of inspection techniques.
• Proficiency with metrology tools based on part geometry and tolerances.
• Experience with AS9102 FAI documentation, NCRs, and quality system protocols.
• Proven ability to influence process improvements and inspection methodology.
• Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.

Responsibilities

• Execute visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on complex machined and additively manufactured components using advanced metrology tools.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to develop robust inspection strategies.
• Independently determine and implement inspection methodologies across first article, in-process, and final inspections.
• Document and elevate non-conformances in compliance with AS9102, internal quality procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain expert proficiency with hand tools and metrology systems, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and optical comparators.
