Job summary

Pacific Fusion is seeking a Senior Metrology & Inspection Engineer in our San Leandro, CA facility to ensure micron-level tolerances across precision targets for our pulsed power fusion system.

You will develop in-process inspection procedures, design fixtures, and integrate metrology into cross-functional workflows, collaborating with scientists, engineers, and technicians to optimize fabrication yields and data-driven feedback loops.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field; advanced degrees a plus.
• Expert-level metrology knowledge, GD&T, and technical drawings.
• Experience planning integration of inspection systems into larger workflows.
• Strong analytical, data-driven process engineering skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop in-process inspection procedures to verify component quality.
• Coordinate with production and quality teams to meet fusion-target requirements.
• Design and fabricate specialized inspection fixtures for high-precision measurement.
• Analyze measurements from diamond turning, electroplating, and thin-film coating.
• Establish metrology capabilities and data workflows from prototyping to production.
• Select metrology equipment considering cost, schedule, and precision needs.
