Job summary

TEGNA Inc. in Phoenix seeks a dynamic Meteorologist to join KPNX-TV's weather team. You will forecast for on-air broadcasts, digital platforms, and social channels, delivering clear, engaging weather explanations to the community.

Responsibilities include producing graphics, handling severe weather updates, reporting from field or newsroom, updating the website, and supporting brainstorming for future shows. A BA/BS in meteorology and 5–7 years on-air experience are required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Meteorology, Geoscience or Atmospheric Science.
• 5-7 years on-air meteorology experience
• Proficient at posting content to various websites and social media; computer literacy including weather and newsroom systems

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts in a multi-platform environment
• Prepare and deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary
• Produce clean, creative and informative graphics to tell the weather story
• Fill in on other shifts when necessary
• Write and report from the field or inside the newsroom
• Update website and interact with viewers on social media platforms daily
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
• Make public appearances
