Job summary

Venteon is currently seeking an experienced Metallurgist to fill an opening with a manufacturing company located in Metro Detroit. The ideal candidates should have a background in Metallurgy and related lab tests and procedures.

The Staff Metallurgist will lead CAPA implementations, develop and update SOPs, manage external laboratory testing, calibrate and maintain lab equipment, plan testing to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards, and evaluate design/process/material changes

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in steel processing, annealing, and heat treatment.
• Familiarity with automotive OEM supplier standards (IATF16949, AIAG, VDA, etc.).
• Versed with ISO9001 compliance / internal audits

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of Root Cause, Corrective, and Preventative Actions (CAPA).
• Develop, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures.
• Manage external laboratory testing processes.
• Calibrate and maintain equipment (both lab and micrometers), ensuring all calibration records are up to date.
• Plan and coordinate testing to ensure products and processes adhere to customer and industry standards.
• Evaluate proposed changes in design, process and materials to current specifications
