Job summary

Velo3D, Fremont, CA, is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to drive end-to-end metal additive manufacturing programs from build through shipment. You will shape process development, metrology strategies, and post-processing for high-value hardware.

The role requires 12+ years in metal AM or manufacturing, deep GD&T knowledge, and a proven ability to scale production. You will collaborate across engineering, operations, quality, and program management in a regulated industry.

Qualifications

• 12+ years hands-on experience in metal additive manufacturing or related manufacturing fields.
• Deep expertise in metal AM, including production-scale powder bed fusion and downstream operations.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, dimensional inspection, and metrology data-driven improvements.
• Proven track record delivering continuous improvement in a production environment.
• Experience scaling manufacturing processes for high-value, low-volume hardware.
• Ability to influence on the floor and guide long-term technical strategy.
• Excellent communication and leadership across engineering, operations, quality, and management.
• Experience with aerospace/defense or regulated industries is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for end-to-end additive manufacturing from build to shipment.
• Improve production strategies for metal AM workflows, including post-processing and inspection.
• Serve as a technical authority for process development, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Lead advanced post-build quality assessments and drive corrective actions to improve first-pass yield.
• Define metrology and dimensional control strategies and translate data into improvements.
• Develop and optimize post-processing strategies and wire EDM operations.
• Lead NCR investigations and drive root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Mentor engineers and technicians to build organizational capability in AM.
