Job summary

University of Massachusetts Medical School's Metabolomics Core Facility is seeking an experienced scientist to support metabolism-based research across various models using high-resolution LC/MS. You will lead projects, prepare samples, optimize extraction methods, and perform LC/MS/MS analyses for targeted and untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics.

The role involves collaboration with researchers, data interpretation, report generation, and potential involvement in grant writing and manuscript

Qualifications

• PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with ≥7 years research.
• 3+ years in metabolomics and/or lipidomics or 1+ year postdoc.
• Experience with high-resolution MS (e.g., Orbitrap).
• Willingness to mentor junior staff and supervise.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple collaboration projects and coordinate with researchers.
• Perform weekly LC-MS maintenance and data QC.
• Prepare samples for metabolomics/lipidomics analyses.
• Develop and optimize extraction and LC/MS workflows.
• Acquire LC/MS/MS data for targeted/untargeted studies.
• Analyze data with TraceFinder, Compound Discoverer, LipidSearch.
• Interpret results and present reports to collaborators.
• Contribute to grant writing and manuscripts.
• Train new lab personnel and ensure safety SOPs.
