Job summary

BRK Tech, a Berkshire Hathaway portfolio company, is hiring a Principal Messaging Platform Engineer for a remote US team. You will design, build, and operate an enterprise messaging bus that connects databases, internal systems, and external vendors across multiple data centers.

You will scale Kafka and/or RabbitMQ, own topic design and message flows, enable event-driven integrations, and implement open-source observability practices to ensure reliability of mission-critical systems in energy

Qualifications

10+ years in Cloud/SRE or DevOps with messaging platforms.
Hands-on experience designing and operating Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Experience with enterprise messaging architecture and HA.
Proficient with event-driven integration and APIs.
Production ownership mindset for mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

Architect and build an enterprise messaging bus for real-time and batch integrations.
Design and operate Kafka and/or RabbitMQ at enterprise scale (multi‑DC).
Own topic/queue design, message flows, durability, scaling, and reliability.
Enable integrations via messaging, APIs, service mesh, and event‑driven patterns.
Support vendor-facing and internal integrations (batch, streaming, real‑time).
Drive messaging consolidation and modernization across data centers.
Implement open‑source observability and operational best practices.
