Job summary

O’Reilly Auto Parts in Springfield, MO seeks a Systems Engineer Platform – Messaging Platform to design, implement, and maintain enterprise messaging across hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.

You will collaborate with architects, developers, and DevOps to standardize messaging patterns and drive modern integration across the org. Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, and IAM security is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years with enterprise messaging platforms and Kafka architecture knowledge.
• Experience in high-throughput, low-latency event-driven systems with governance.
• Hands-on with GCP messaging services and hybrid architectures (IAM, multi-region).
• Proficiency with Terraform, Kubernetes/Helm, and CI/CD tooling via GitOps.
• Security and compliance background (PCI, HIPAA) including TLS/mTLS.
• Observability expertise with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and GCP tools.
• Ability to prototype messaging tech (Pulsar, RabbitMQ) and drive adoption.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate scalable messaging platforms (Kafka/ Pub/Sub) for high throughput.
• Manage topics, schemas, connectors, and stream processing with exact delivery.
• Automate messaging infra with Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes, and GitOps.
• Implement secure messaging with IAM integration, TLS/mTLS, and ACLs.
• Establish observability and monitor SLAs, broker health, and lag metrics.
• Lead incident response, RCA, and disaster recovery planning.
• Provide reusable connectors, SDKs, and developer enablement tools.
