Job summary

BRK Tech, a Berkshire Hathaway Group Company, is hiring Staff Full Stack Engineers for a remote role within the United States. You will own architecture for high-impact rail-operations software, delivering scalable platform services, APIs, and AI/ML-enabled solutions across data centers and the cloud.

You will lead cross-functional teams, drive technical vision, and participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, testing, and on-call responsibilities in a 24/7

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Authorized to work in the US.
• Experience with distributed systems and technologies like Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Experience with secure coding practices and platform security principles.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture for large-scale, complex systems.
• Drive technical decisions balancing business needs and engineering trade-offs.
• Design and operate scalable systems across data centers, edge devices, and the cloud.
• Develop APIs, automation, and tools to improve platform integration.
• Build and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for services.
• Mentor and grow other engineers, including senior ones.
• Participate in design reviews, incident retrospectives, and RFC processes.
