Qualifications

At least 5 years of payments or merchant underwriting experience.
Experience with high-risk and/or high-volume merchants.
Strong knowledge of card networks and compliance obligations.
Ability to mentor junior underwriters.
Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance preferred.

Responsibilities

Evaluate credit and financial risk for merchants, including forward-delivery exposure.
Recommend reserves, escrow, collateral, processing limits, and account reviews.
Make underwriting decisions within delegated authority and escalate as needed.
Prepare underwriting reports and present findings to senior management.
Coordinate with transaction risk teams to ensure consistent decisions.
Mentor junior underwriters and train new staff.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, card network rules, and recording-keeping obligations.
