Qualifications

Job description

The Broaddus Team is seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Owners' Representative to manage the end-to-end lifecycle—from design through construction, commissioning, and closeout—of high-stakes healthcare construction projects. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive MEP system knowledge to ensure complex, mission-critical facilities are delivered in accordance with UT's Commissioning Process with exceptional quality, performance, and operational readiness, operating independently with minimal oversight. This will be an onsite position in the Houston Medical Center for a prestigious Healthcare Institution.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Project Leadership: Drive all MEP aspects of large, complex healthcare projects through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout, ensuring strict alignment with owner design guidelines and specifications.
• Design & Technical Review: Manage design reviews, technical submittals, RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and factory/site acceptance test plans to proactively identify risks and resolve issues early.
• Commissioning Oversight: Lead the comprehensive commissioning process for complex MEP systems, driving Commissioning Team accountability and verifying performance against Owner operational requirements.
• Active Healthcare & Outage Management: Oversee and coordinate complex outage planning and execution within active healthcare environments to maintain operational continuity and patient safety.
• Stakeholder & Meeting Facilitation: Act as the primary client representative, facilitating key coordination meetings with the Owner/End User, Design-Builder, Commissioning Agent, TAB, Controls, and other key entities.
• Project Governance & Tracking: Maintain rigorous organization around action tracking, risk mitigation efforts, energy goals, and responsibility matrices to support flawless project execution.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), Construction Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in MEP commissioning, project management, or construction management within large-scale healthcare facilities.
• Demonstrated expertise leading complex healthcare projects through their complete lifecycle with minimal oversight.
• Proven experience managing outage planning and coordination within active healthcare environments.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• In-depth knowledge of commissioning best practices, industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE Guideline 0, NIBS Guideline 3), and healthcare codes (e.g., FGI, Joint Commission).
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems (BAS).
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, e-Builder) and commissioning management software (e.g., Cx Alloy, Cx Planner).
• Strong contract administration skills and familiarity with project delivery methods and governance requirements.

Additional Qualities (Preferred)

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or another U.S. state.
• Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA), or similar certification.
• Familiarity with advanced building technologies, including robotics integration within healthcare facilities.
