Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an experienced MEP Manager to lead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing activities on commercial projects in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

You will oversee MEP design coordination, field installation, commissioning, safety compliance, and budget management while guiding engineers and subcontractors to deliver high-quality building systems on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Professional certification in MEP engineering or project management (e.g., PE, PMP, LEED, CCP) is a plus.
• Experience in one or all disciplines of MEP such as mechanical, electrical, controls, plumbing, fire alarm, fire protection, special systems, commissioning.
• Strong understanding of MEP design, field installation, building systems, construction methods, and project management principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• Knowledgeable with MEP codes and installation standards.
• Knowledge of energy-efficient systems and sustainable building practices.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledgeable in MEP estimating.
• Ability to lead an MEP team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate MEP works across project phases from design to commissioning.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate MEP systems.
• Ensure timely completion of MEP-related tasks within deadlines.
• Lead and manage a team of engineers and subcontractors.
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to MEP team members and meet deadlines.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members as needed.
• Review MEP designs to align with codes and client requirements.
• Select materials and systems considering cost, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
• Approve MEP shop drawings and coordinate design changes with other teams.
• Manage the MEP project budget and financial constraints.
• Monitor costs related to labor, materials, and equipment; allocate resources.
• Ensure all MEP installations comply with local codes and safety standards.
• Perform regular site inspections and quality checks.
• Obtain necessary permits and approvals for MEP work.
• Resolve issues during installation and commissioning phases.
• Address conflicts between MEP systems and other components.
• Provide progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Maintain documentation of all MEP activities and milestones.
• Communicate with clients to understand needs and provide updates.
• Manage client expectations and ensure satisfaction with quality and timeliness.
