Job summary
Procon is seeking an experienced MEP Inspector to support field inspection of complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing construction and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will bring extensive inspection experience, strong knowledge of industry practices and applicable codes, and the ability to coordinate with project teams while maintaining accurate inspection records.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
- 15 years of experience in construction inspection, including significant experience with complex MEP construction and renovation projects.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in a similar inspection role.
- Demonstrated fire alarm system experience including installation, inspection, replacement, testing, and commissioning.
- Experience with fire alarm control panels, notification/alarm devices, detectors, annunciators, and related components.
- Experience supporting phased fire alarm demolition, replacement, and system cutover activities is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MEP construction methods, codes, standards and industry practices.
- Strong understanding of fire alarm and life-safety codes and construction practices.
- Experience reviewing work for compliance with contract docs, codes, specs and project requirements.
- Experience using construction management software; E-Builder experience is preferred.
- Strong written communication skills to prepare inspection reports and records.
Responsibilities
- Perform specialized field inspections for MEP disciplines and related construction disciplines.
- Provide field inspection and oversight for phased demolition and replacement of existing fire alarm systems.
- Inspect removal and replacement of fire alarm panels, devices, detectors, annunciators, and components.
- Monitor installation of new fire alarm systems and support testing, commissioning, and final cutover.
- Verify fire alarm activities comply with contract docs, plans, specs, codes, and project requirements.
- Inspect complex MEP construction and renovation for contract and code compliance.
- Schedule, coordinate, and perform field inspections through various construction phases.
- Inspect project sites for contract and code compliance and evaluate workmanship quality.
- Recommend approval or rejection of materials and workmanship as appropriate.
- Monitor labor safety requirements during field activities.
- Maintain accurate inspection reports and defect records.
- Coordinate with contractors, project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve issues.
