Job summary

HKA Enterprises is seeking a highly experienced MEP Inspector/Field Engineer to lead comprehensive site inspections, verify HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and BAS installations, and ensure compliance with IBC, IMC, IPC, NEC and OSHA.

The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of field inspection or field engineering experience on complex commercial or federal projects valued at $50M+, with proficiency in BIM tools and enterprise project management software.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of documented experience in construction inspection or field engineering.
• Field experience on multiple large-scale modernization or new construction projects valued at $50M+.
• Exceptional knowledge of IBC, IMC, IPC, NEC, and OSHA safety regulations.
• Advanced proficiency in auditing hydronic systems, VRF layouts, air filtration, BACnet and BAS sequences.
• Experience with 2D/3D drawings (blueprints, BIM, Navisworks) and BIM coordination.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site observations and verify mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and BAS installations.
• Verify standards compliance and track materials/equipment.
• Support commissioning activities and startup readiness with the commissioning agent.
• Conduct submittal reviews, RFIs, and defect tracking for issue resolution.
• Prepare daily logs and periodic progress summaries.
• Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to maintain schedule alignment.

Pay: $36.81- $39.58 per hour DOE

Responsibilities:

• A. Comprehensive Field Inspection & Technical Verification
  • Conduct daily site observations
  • Inspect mechanical and HVAC systems

• B. Commissioning (Cx) & Startup Support
  • Serve as liaison to the Commissioning Agent

Required:

• Minimum 10 years of documented experience in construction inspection or field engineering, with verified specialization in MEP systems on complex commercial or federal projects
• Field experience on at least 2 multip phased modernization or new construction projects of a similar profile (large-scale campus environments, critical infrastructure facilities, or LPOEs) valued at $50M or greater
• Exceptional working knowledge of IBC, IMC, IPC, NEC, and OSHA safety regulations
• Advanced proficiency in auditing centralized hydronic plant loops, VRF layouts, air filtration mechanics (MERV/HEPA sequencing), and localized exhaust extraction systems; deep understanding of BACnet protocols and BAS graphic sequence of operations logic
• Expert familiarity with SCCR, arc flash safety boundaries, Selective Coordination requirements for overcurrent protective devices, and emergency infrastructure load-shedding architecture
• Thorough understanding of IPC, backflow prevention assembly testing, medical/specialty gas certifications, and hydraulic calculations for automatic fire sprinkler networks (NFPA 13/14/20)
• Expert capability navigating multi-layered 2D blueprints, structural cross-sections, 3D BIM programs (e.g., Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection), and complex technical specification matrices
• Proven experience with enterprise-level electronic project management software (daily logs, RFI tracking, submittal packages, deficiency metrics)
• Demonstrated history of providing objective technical guidance, drafting clear professional summaries, and building consensus across diverse stakeholder groups (including GSA Project Managers, CBP operations staff, and prime contractors)
