Job summary

McFarland Construction is hiring a Senior MEP Engineer to lead design, coordination, and oversight of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on commercial design/build projects in Indianapolis, IN. You’ll collaborate with design teams, contractors, and field staff to deliver safe, code-compliant installations.

Requires 7+ years in MEP engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering field.
• 5+ years of experience in MEP engineering, preferably in the construction industry.
• Solid understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, including applicable codes and standards.
• Proficient in reading technical drawings and using AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM platforms.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• OSHA 30 certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate MEP designs and shop drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and building codes.
• Support pre-construction efforts including scope development, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
• Coordinate installation and integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural elements.
• Conduct site inspections to verify quality of workmanship, progress, and compliance with approved drawings and standards.
• Identify and resolve MEP-related conflicts or issues in the field through proactive collaboration.
• Liaise with MEP subcontractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and execution.
• Monitor and report on the progress of MEP systems installation and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Assist in the review of RFI responses, submittals, and change orders related to MEP systems.
• Ensure safety and code compliance in all MEP installations.
