Job summary

Clune Construction is seeking a Senior MEP Coordinator to lead planning, installation, startup and commissioning of key MEP equipment on mission critical, healthcare and TI projects. You will coordinate MEP models, review submittals, provide solutions for RFIs, track progress and organize commissioning documentation with subcontractors and vendors.

The role emphasizes mentoring staff, coordinating with design engineers, and ensuring high standards in a collaborative, employee‑owned environment.

Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with MEP systems installation and BIM modeling.
  • Exposure to PLCs, control systems, instrumentation, or building management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications; strong computer skills.
  • Experience coordinating with design engineers and subcontractors to solve MEP problems.
  • Proven ability to mentor staff and contribute to a collaborative culture.

  • Coordinate 3D Model activities and MEP-related MOPs for projects.

The Senior MEP Coordinator’s role is to supplement the project team by organizing the proper planning, installation, startup and commissioning of key MEP equipment. The position is focused in Mission Critical environments, but also helps with Health Care and TI projects. Responsibilities include coordinating the MEP model, reviewing MEP submittals prior to submission, provide potential solutions for MEP related RFIs, track MEP construction progress, organize startup and commissioning documentation, and work with subcontractor and vendors to close punch list items.

Essential Functions
  • Assist Project Management Team with Preconstruction MEP information management
  • Support and schedule 3D Model coordinator for assigned projects.
  • Track MEP related MOPs and cutover activities for assigned projects.
  • Coordinator commissioning documentation with subcontractors, vendors, and commissioning agent.
  • Process Vendor startup and commissioning.
  • Assist with organizing MEP client training.
  • Train and provide guidance to MEP Team on MEP concepts and installation details.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • While this role does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities, the Senior MEP Coordinator is responsible for mentoring staff, providing training on various MEP procedures, and providing feedback on performance reviews.

Job Requirements
  • Advanced Experience and knowledge of the installation of MEP systems, BIM Modeling, and Construction Management
  • Experience with PLCs, control systems, process instrumentation, and/or building management systems
  • Ability to use independent judgment, self‑starting and ability to prioritize based on relevant factors
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications drafting and computer skills desirable.
  • Ability to coordinate solutions to installation problems with design engineers and subcontractors.
  • Must possess the utmost of personal integrity and have the ability to create and lead an organization’s culture of collaboration, both internally and externally, in order to maintain the superior reputation of the firm
  • Must possess the desire and ability to collaborate with design engineers and other technical personnel to create solutions to MEP problems identified in design review, construction, installation, startup, and commissioning.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Construction Science, or combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 6 years of experience with large commercial construction projects preferred
  • Experience as or working in collaboration with a construction project manager or superintendent preferred
