Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Senior Construction Project Engineer in Chicago, IL, to support the Prime MEP group with project management, budgeting, and scheduling responsibilities.

You will coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors, develop scopes of work, and assist with project controls, including cost tracking and monthly accounting reviews. Safety and on-site leadership are key parts of the role, with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management or comparable degree
• Two years of progressive project responsibilities in a Project Engineer role
• Knowledge of construction management, commercial building processes, and financial acumen
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred

Responsibilities

• May serve as the on-site point of contact for client, subcontractors, vendors and field personnel
• Support RFP process and coordinate equipment procurement with purchasing department
• Assist in development of Scope of Work for subcontractors
• Oversee scheduling and coordination of trades
• Maintain drawings, RFI logs, Submittal logs, and daily reports
• Create and publish Operations and Maintenance Manuals for client
• Assess site safety and implement actions to prevent injury to property and personnel
