Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer (MEP/Construction) to join the Construction Projects Team in the Austin area. You will lead MEP design, procurement, construction, and commissioning for large capital projects across internal customer groups.

You will develop drawings and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial projects, negotiate contracts with subcontractors, and resolve design conflicts in the field. Travel and onsite work are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience with the design or build of MEP building systems.
• Onsite role based in the Austin area; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project team, consultants and contractors through MEP engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial projects.
• Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines.
• Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-time.
• Coordinate with electrical utility provider for design/engineering to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructure.
• Interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders.
