Job summary

SpaceX in Austin is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer (MEP/Construction) to lead the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of infrastructure for large capital projects.

You will coordinate with engineers, contractors and vendors to deliver critical site systems and ensure safety and compliance. You will develop drawings and reports, manage contracts with subcontractors, and resolve field issues while meeting project timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience with the design or build of MEP building systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project team, consulting engineers and contractors throughout the entirety of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning process
• Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type projects
• Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out
• Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-time
• Coordinate with electrical utility provider for design/engineering to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructure
• Interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders
