Job summary

FormFactor, Inc., Livermore, CA, seeks a Sr. Principal Plating Engineer (MEMS R&D) to define and advance electroplating and metallurgical solutions for next‑gen MEMS probes.

You will lead strategic R&D, evaluate materials, and collaborate with R&D, Process Integration, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to shape the technology roadmap and improve device performance. The role requires deep electrochemistry and materials science expertise, DOE-driven process development, and hands-on

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6 years with a Master’s, or a PhD with 3 years.
• Expertise in electroplating, electroless plating, electrochemistry, and metallurgical process development.
• Experience in MEMS probe fabrication and advanced electrodeposition.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute long-range technology roadmaps for advanced electroplating processes.
• Lead DOE studies to optimize metallurgical solutions for MEMS probes.
• Characterize deposition processes; establish process windows and specs.
• Perform materials analysis and lead root-cause investigations of defects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support technology development.
• Mentor engineers and establish engineering standards across the organization.
