Job summary

McWane Ductile New Jersey is seeking a Senior Melter Spare to support the melting department by maintaining and repairing critical furnace equipment for safe, efficient production. You will perform tasks such as cleaning and rebuilding tap holes, maintaining ladles and runners, and operating melt deck equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety and housekeeping.

This role requires physical stamina and adherence to all safety rules, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant industrial, manufacturing, or foundry experience preferred.
• Ability to perform manual labor and operate common shop tools.
• Must follow safety rules and environmental requirements and complete trainings.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety rules, procedures, and environmental requirements, including training and reporting concerns.
• Maintain certifications including lockout/tagout, confined space, and fall protection.
• Perform manual labor, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operate chipping guns and rammers.
• Clean and maintain slag and iron handling equipment, ladles, and runners.
• Chip, repair, rebuild and inspect tap holes, slag notches, and related components.
• Maintain melt box, spout, and related equipment condition.
• Operate melt deck equipment, tend the cupola, and run the skip car as needed.
• Assist in start-up and bottom-drop activities; ensure safe daily operations.
• Ensure tools and equipment are in proper working condition and area remains tidy.
