Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Training Coordinator to orient and train new and existing medical transcription staff in the department. The role involves maintaining transcription procedures and systems, distributing manuals, and communicating procedural changes.

You will plan training, troubleshoot systems, and coordinate schedules to ensure smooth daily operations. The position requires updating terminology, ensuring staff complete required training, and supporting dictation system updates and reports.

Responsibilities

• Maintain transcription procedure and system manuals; distribute to staff and management; update author names and titles.
• Ensure that staff complete all required training.
• Assist to troubleshoot problems with systems used including individual PCs.
• Assist with maintenance of general office equipment (phones, printers, copiers, fax, print server, PCs); prepare job lists and schedules for outsourced transcriptionists.
• Assist with dictation system updates and edits; assign jobs; update user profiles; manage pools and pool scripts; transfer jobs; monitor print production, backlog and reports.
• Search journals and internet for clinical resources to update service protocols with new terminology.
• Perform transcription functions as required.
• Coordinate staff schedules and ensure smooth daily operation of the department.
• Complete initial, follow-up and ongoing training to all medical transcription staff; include dictation and transcription software and Word usage.
• Attend required meetings.
• Orient new transcription staff to department policies, procedures and standards.
• Update staff on software revisions, system upgrades, productivity tips; plan and execute training for all transcriptionists.
