Qualifications

• Meets CLIA requirements for high complexity laboratory testing.
• Certification MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) required; ASCP specialty in area of expertise preferred.
• Four years of clinical laboratory experience in a computerized hospital setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets all the technical requirements of the duties of a Medical Technologist. Performs, interprets, documents, and reports clinical laboratory diagnostic assays.
• Participates in Quality Control & Quality Assurance Activities.
• Checks, calibrates and maintains equipment in working order, performing preventive maintenance at prescribed intervals. Ensures adequate reagent supplies according to Laboratory and Section policies.
• Performs technical, procedural and administrative problem solving. Uses advanced professional judgment in response to unusual situations.
• Assists supervisor in the preparation and revision of procedures and inspection readiness. Key technical resource in the research, validation, and implementation of new tests and processes. Acts as department resource in absence of supervisor.
• Coordinates the research, development, and training of personnel and students in new procedures, techniques, and equipment in conjunction with regulatory requirements. Consults with core lab supervisor to identify areas of interest and frequency.
• Demonstrates adaptability, flexibility and timeliness in managing workload and processes required to meet technical and administrative needs.
• Demonstrates compliance with corporate, departmental and job-specific requirements.

Education

MT(ASCP) / MLS(ASCP) Certification

CLIA high complexity testing
