Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals is seeking a laboratory leader to perform routine and specialized tests, report results, and lead quality control and regulatory activities. The role includes developing new procedures, mentoring staff, and ensuring competency and documentation across the lab.

The position emphasizes leadership in high- and moderate-complexity testing with a focus on quality and safety in a busy clinical laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science or related science field.
• 3 years clinical laboratory experience in moderate/high complexity testing.
• ASCP or NCA certification/licensure required.
• 2 years leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment.
• Lead development and implementation of new procedures, instrumentation, and computer functionality.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and complete documentation for staff training and competency.
• Mentor staff and oversee proficiency testing and quality control.
• Train new employees and support supervisor with reports and procedure reviews.
